1. End of ‘No-Grounds’ Evictions:
As of 19 May 2025, landlords will no longer be able to end a lease without providing a valid reason. Acceptable grounds now include:

2. Portable Bond Scheme:

3. Background Check Reform:
It’s now illegal for landlords and agents to ask tenants to pay for their own background checks—putting an end to unnecessary and costly application fees.
4. Mandatory Termination Reporting:
From July 2025, landlords will be required to state the reason for lease termination when lodging bond refunds. This data will help regulate rental practices and promote accountability.
