The Block 2019 Oslo: Main Bathroom Reveal

Impressive bathrooms this week. These rooms are huge. Look at the ceiling heights! I especially love Matt and El’ise’s shower area. Great use of space.

Check out all the rooms below…

TESS AND LUKE
SCORE: 28/30
Tess and Luke were the only couple so far yet to win a room. But they pulled out all the stops in their main bathroom, delivering a stunning, modern, spacious bathroom with a speckled mosaic feature tile that had SERIOUS wow factor. The space featured double basins in matte grey, brushed-steel tapware, a gorgeous free-standing bath under the skylight, two oblong shaving mirrors, pops of burnt orange in the choice of towels and a stunning strip feature light. Darren loved the couple’s choice to place the free-standing bath beneath the skylight, and the fact they’d included a lovely architectural roof line to accentuate the space.

EL’ISE AND MATT
SCORE: 26.5/30
El’ise and Matt went the extra mile this week, flipping the architect’s plans to make way for an extra ensuite for their second bedroom. It was a stroke of genius, utilising as it did the natural light source from the void skylight adjacent. Their room featured three beautiful tile choices – one in a gorgeous blush pink – double vanity, circular shaving cabinet mirrors, black chandelier, marble imprint tiles, and a double shower positioned exceptionally well below those massive skylights. All three judges loved the glass window and the use of skylights. The one thing they were all unanimous in their praise of, was the generous proportions afforded in what is, effectively, just an ensuite.

MITCH AND MARK
SCORE: 24.5/30
This week Mitch and Mark went against the grain, once again changing the architect’s plans to include an ensuite for their third bedroom plus a stylish, practical laundry.
The judges were fans, especially Darren who thought their decision to include this on the second floor was a stroke of genius. Shaynna also appreciated what they’d done, but couldn’t shake the feeling they had minimised their space by choosing to enclose the laundry behind those bifold doors – the boys disagreed. Next door, in the ensuite, the judges were once again impressed with the finishes, and were particular fans of the oversized shower head, the wooden custom-made vanity, use of that stunning Beaumont chevron white tile, and the heated towel rail.

JESSE AND MEL
SCORE: 24/30
Jesse and Mel went to extra lengths this week to present their master bathroom and matching powder room, which they both think will appeal to the high-end buyer they’re desperate to lure. The couple used travertine-look tiles, a sleek black vanity, those hanging drop pendant lights and the absolutely enormous double shower – complete with custom-made shower block for sitting! Shaynna loved the towel choice, and the fact they’d chose to incorporate a ladder-style heated towel rail. And while Neale admitted he wasn’t a fan of the separate powder room, Jesse still stood by his decision.

ANDY AND DEB
SCORE: 22.5/30
Andy and Deb went all-out to present a gorgeous, relaxed and ‘coastal luxe’-style main bathroom, while at the same time referencing their gorgeous ensuite from week one.
And they knocked it out of the park. The couple’s choice of wooden accents went perfectly with the gold fixtures and fittings, including that sweet copper pendant light, the natural wooden stool next to the stunning free-standing bath, the use of woven baskets as storage and the choice of persian rugs and textured, patterned towels as accents. The pop of colour, courtesy of the potted plants, also added a point of difference. All three judges loved the use of smart technology in the space, admiring the way the couple had used Alexa to create a mood in the bathroom and operate the shower and bath.

What did you think of the main bathrooms this week?
